Job Description
As a Swim Instructor at American University, you will oversee swimming programs and conduct both individual and group lessons custom-tailored to children of different ages and skill levels. This position is perfect for students who have a profound love for swimming, exceptional communication skills, and a genuine talent for motivating young swimmers to develop a love and respect for the water. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and self-driven Swim Instructor to join our team and support our American University in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
• Provide swim instruction to students of all ages and skill levels
• Ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all students
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and guidance as needed
Requirements
• Experience working with students of all ages and abilities, preferably in an educational or instructional setting
• Strong swimming skills and knowledge of various swim strokes and techniques
• Strong background in water safety and survival skills
• CPR & First Aid Certified (infant, child & adult)
• Excellent communication, organizational, time management and creative teaching skills
• Strong behavior management skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally
• Experience in childcare or sports coaching is beneficial, as it demonstrates an understanding of working with children in a structured environment!
• A love and passion for swimming and children!
